As you progress the game, you will eventually need to go to the surface to help Olympus. Unfortunately, the path is blocked by a ward, and Melinoe must undo the magic herself. One of the materials you need for this incantation is Shadow. If you want to know how to obtain this material in Hades 2, you can read this guide.
Hades 2 Shadow Extraction Guide
You can get Shadow by performing a special alchemy at the cauldron in the Crossroads. In order to unlock this incantation, you must speak with Hecate about exploring the surface. Melinoe won’t bring up this topic at your base, and you must reach the end of Erebus and face the witch in the last chamber.
Here are the ingredients you need to perform Shadow Extraction:
- Ash x30
- Psyche x30
- Fate Fabric x3
Ash and Pysche are the two most common materials you can get while exploring the underworld. The easiest way to get them is by entering chambers that drop these resources. You can also get Pysche by equipping the Tablet of Peace and communing with lost Shades.
Fate Fabric is much harder to obtain. Although some blessings will grant you this item, purchasing it from the Wretched Broker is the most reliable way to get it. You can get one Fate Fabric for 60 Bones, meaning you need 180 Bones to get three.
If you have unlocked Charon’s Chest, you can also purchase 10 Fate Fabrics from the boatman. Unlike the Wretched Broker, he only accepts Loyalty Cards, and you must give four to order one bulk of Fate Fabrics.
During the Early Access, only the Permeation of Witching-Wards incantation requires Shadow. Although the rest of the materials required to unlock the ward are easy to get, you still need to perform another incantation to survive on the surface.
