Insomniac’s Spider-Man Is Receiving a Prequel Novel

Insomniac’s Spider-Man for the PlayStation 4 will be receiving a prequel novel.

Publisher Titan Books has announced through Polygon that they will be releasing a prequel novel for the upcoming Spider-Man title. Entitled Spider-Man: Hostile Takeover, the novel will reveal Kingpin’s plan to gain a grip on New York City, and will contain relationships and details that will carry over into the game.

Hostile Takeover will be written by David Liss, who also wrote The Ethical Assassin and Black Panther: The Man Without Fear. The book will feature some of the superhero’s famous friends and foes, including Shocker, Echo, the Blood Spider, Kingpin, J. Jonah Jameson, and Mary Jane Watson. It will lead directly into the game.

Titan also revealed that they will be releasing an art book entitled Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Art of the Game. It will be written by Paul Davies. The book will feature never-before-seen images of the web-crawler, including his suit and equipment. It will show off Marvel’s version of New York, the superhero’s villains, initial designs, blueprints, and final concepts.

Hostile Takeover will release on August 21, a few weeks ahead of the PlayStation 4 title on September 7. Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Art of the Game will release after the game on September 11.
