Although crafting/life simulator My Time at Sandrock centers around building various machines and devices to restore the titular town, it’s far from short on opportunities to fight. The desert surrounding Sandrock is filled with monsters you can battle to earn valuable resources like meat, skin, feathers, bones, and more. Plus, My Time at Sandrock offers combat challenges in the form of Hazardous Ruins, timed dungeons packed to the brim with extra-challenging monsters. Not to mention, you can even spar with many different Sandrock residents to build your relationship with them!
All of this adds up to one thing: you should wisely spend your points in the Combat Knowledge tree to become a more adept fighter and be ready to take on the many challenging battles awaiting you. Combat is one of the game’s four Knowledge trees, and you will earn Knowledge Points the more you fight!
Here are a few great Combat skills to invest in first:
Survival Knowledge
In My Time at Sandrock, your HP increases each time you level up. You can also further boost your HP by wearing certain clothing items and eating certain foods. However, if you run out of HP at any time, it’s an instant game over, so you should definitely spend some Knowledge Points to boost it as soon as possible. You can spend up to two Combat Knowledge Points to earn the following effects:
- Maximum HP +10%
- Gain 10% more HP when using items (medicines, food, etc.)
Toughness Knowledge
My Time at Sandrock utilizes a BREAK system. Each character and creature starts with a certain number of BREAK points; when you’ve successfully broken through their defense by delivering sustained attacks, they take more damage and may even be temporarily stunned. Your own character starts out with a fairly pitiful number of BREAK points, so you should increase them by putting two Knowledge Points into Toughness Knowledge. This will both add to your BREAK points and allow them to recover much faster.
First Point Of Any Melee Weapon Knowledge
There are four melee weapons to choose from in My Time at Sandrock: daggers, spears, sword/shield combos, and heavy swords. You can choose to specialize and sink all of your Combat Knowledge Points into a single weapon or spread the Points around and master multiple. However, you should put one Combat Knowledge Point into any Melee Weapon Knowledge as soon as possible. The first Knowledge Point in any Melee Weapon’s category unlocks a powerful five-hit combo when using that weapon, which is invaluable when it comes to Breaking enemies and taking down high-HP bosses.
After mastering the basics, you can become a more advanced Combat specialist by spending further Knowledge Points. You can focus on your melee weapon of choice, or spread out your points between them all. Alternately, you can learn to craft firearms from lost technology and become a master of long-range weapons. Additionally, you can adopt a nimble strategy focused on dodging and rolling away from enemy attacks.
