Nintendo E3 2019 – Dragon Quest Comes to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The first announcement of Nintendo’s E3 Direct confirmed the rumors that ‘The Hero’ from Dragon Quest XI will join the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster.

The unnamed protagonist, simply known as ‘The Hero’, will be the next DLC character, and appears to be halfway between a spell based and sword fighter character. His spells seem similar to Fire Emblem’s Robin, while also allowing players to select spells, reminiscent of Shulk’s monado arts. Whereas ‘The Hero’s’ sword fighting abilities seem much like Link’s.

In the brief trailer, we also noticed that the fighter has a powerful recovery, which looks useful for both making it back on stage and edge guarding your opponents.

During the reveal, it was also interesting to note many other Dragon Quest protagonists taking to the stage to brawl opponents, but without the announcement of any echo fighters, it seems like these will simply be alternate skins, like the Koopalings and Bowser Jr.

We don’t have a release date yet, but here’s a look at ‘The Hero’s’ moves:
