Market and Switch 2 context
The sales announcement arrived during a difficult period for Nintendo’s shares. Bloomberg said the rise put the shares on course for a third consecutive weekly gain, which would be their longest winning streak since November.
Quartz reported that Nintendo’s June-quarter results showed Switch 2 console shipments of 3.82 million units, down 34.4% from the same period a year earlier. The company has also raised the Switch 2’s U.S. price by $50 to $499.99, effective September 1, citing rising memory-chip costs.

Nintendo expects roughly 100 billion yen in combined costs from higher memory prices and tariff measures over the full fiscal year, Quartz reported. The company left its full-year guidance unchanged after first-quarter results, projecting net sales of 2.05 trillion yen and net profit of 310 billion yen.
