Call of Duty games have never been known for their campaigns, at best most of these have been pretty mediocre particularly the campaigns found in Black Ops games, regardless of their status of fun or dull they are still a good chunk of the game, a reason to purchase it and do more then play multiplayer. Unfortunately if you plan on picking up the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 versions of Call of Duty Black Ops 3 then you are going to be a campaign short, Activision and Treyarch have confirmed that the single player campaign has been cut from these older generation versions of the game, though Multiplayer and Zombies are still in one piece.
Activision and Treyarch had this to say:
“The Black Ops 3 PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will feature Multiplayer and Zombies gameplay only, not Campaign,” Treyarch explained. The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware.
“Delivering the best possible gameplay experience on all platforms is always our highest priority. With that in mind, Black Ops 3 PS3 and Xbox 360 players can continue to look forward to a new experience of Black Ops 3 multiplayer, including the new momentum-based, chain-movement system, as well as the all-new Specialist class of 9 Black Ops soldiers, which fundamentally change the way players engage in combat.
“Black Ops 3 players on PS3 and Xbox 360 will also have a chance to immerse themselves in the all-new Zombies mode, called ‘Shadows of Evil,’ which features a 1940’s film-noir inspired adventure that takes the signature Black Ops Zombies gameplay to a new level.”
The Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game are losing a fair amount of the features available to current generation versions. In addition to the absence of single player Activision and Treyarch have also confirmed that the weapon paint shop and eSports features have been completely removed from the last generation versions of the game. Things are made even more expensive for this game when it will set you back $50 for the last generation versions when it is missing a good selection of its content. It’s worth noting that purchasing this version of the game you will get a download code for Black Ops, but the asking price is still really high, if you want this game I would suggest aiming for the Playstation 4, Xbox One or PC versions, at least you know you will get the whole experience.
Call of Duty Black Ops 3 will arrive on November 6th for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
