New reports from Activision suggest that a remastered Spyro the Dragon trilogy is coming later in 2018. According to the rumors, the trio of games will be exclusive to the PlayStation 4, much like the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, but there is a possibility of them coming to other platforms at a later date. Kotaku has stated the official announcement from Activision will happen March 2018 with a release date set for Q3 2018, just in time for the game’s 20th anniversary.
The trilogy will include the original Spyro the Dragon, Ripto’s Rage!, and Year of the Dragon. As with any remaster, the games will include completely retouched animations, graphics, and cinematics for gamers to enjoy. However, there are talks that extra content cut from the original games will be included, so lovers of the older versions will have something new and exciting to look forward to.
The games are being spearheaded by developer Vicarious Visions, who brought us the Crash Bandicoot remaster last year. As that game was met with tremendous success, the sky is the limit for the Spyro remasters. With the addition of great games like Spyro coming out later this year, 2018 is shaping up to be an amazing year for video games.
