Stardew Valley 1.7 will be the game’s biggest update ever, ConcernedApe says

Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone, known as ConcernedApe, told a live audience at a Symphony of Seasons concert in Colorado that the farming sim’s next update is shaping up to be its biggest ever, and it will probably arrive sometime in 2027.

Barone made the remarks from the stage of the Stardew Valley Symphony of Seasons concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, with the moment captured by an attending fan and first reported on November 3, 2026 by GamesRadar+. Addressing the crowd between pieces, Barone said: “We’re working on the 1.7 update, which is looking to be the largest Stardew Valley update ever.”

It is a notable step up in scope for a game that shipped on February 26, 2016 and is still in active development more than a decade later. Barone first confirmed that 1.7 existed in August 2025, after players had assumed the 1.6 update would be the last one he had planned.

“Just the tip of the iceberg”

Barone also gave a hint at how much is actually in 1.7, saying: “It’s jam-packed. Clint and Sandy are just the tip of the iceberg, there’s so much more in the update.”

That reference points to what players already knew about the update: it will add Clint and Sandy as romanceable marriage candidates, alongside a new farm type. Framing those two additions as a fraction of the whole suggests 1.7 goes well beyond the kind of content that the 1.5 and 1.6 updates brought, which added regions, festivals and more. Barone gave no further details and no specific features beyond those already known.

A soft target for 2027

On timing, Barone kept expectations loose: “You guys are in for a real treat, and it’ll probably come out some time next year.”

That is a probable window rather than a date. Barone gave no sign whether the update lands early or late in 2027, and “probably” leaves room for the schedule to move. 1.7 does not have a confirmed release date.

Stardew Valley is available now on Steam for Windows, Mac and Linux, and 1.7 will likely arrive sometime in 2027.
