Story of Seasons A Wonderful Life: How To Upgrade Tools

As your farm gets upgraded in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, your tools will need to be upgraded as well. Sticking with the basic tools isn’t recommended. The starter tools are not good at their jobs – and that is putting it nicely.

As the game goes on, your dreams become bigger and you eventually want to plow every field you can. You’ll find yourself wishing and hoping for a new tool to maybe make the process easier and in turn make your stamina not decrease as quickly which opens you up to enjoy other parts of the game. Luckily, your hoe, watering can, and sickle can all be upgraded! This guide will cover the process of obtaining new tools in A Wonderful Life.

How To Upgrade Your Tools

This basic watering can doesn’t hold up

The previous section made it seem like upgrading your tool was a monumental task. Fortunately, it’s not! The only thing standing between you and your wonderful new bronze, silver, and golden tools is… money and time. Just like all things in life, of course. But in this Wonderful Life, you will need to wait for the traveling merchant, Van.

Van comes to the Valley on the 3rd and the 8th of every season. He’s the guy that you sell all of your junk from the mines to, but he also sells some things you can’t get anywhere else – like new tools!

Copper Tools

These tools will be available beginning in Fall of Year One. The range of each tool will be increased by 1×3 squares, and their stamina consumption will also decrease.

  • Copper Hoe – 1,000g
  • Copper Watering Can – 1,000g
  • Copper Sickle – 1,000g

Silver Tools

These tools will be available from Van during Summer of Year Two. The range will be increased by 3×3 squares and the stamina consumption will be decreased, as usual.

  • Silver Hoe – 10,000g
  • Silver Watering Can – 10,00g
  • Silver Sickle – 10,000g

Golden Tools

The golden tools are the best of the best! These tools will be available during the Summer of Year Eight. The range will be increased to 9×3 squares and the tools consume, yup, even less energy!

  • Golden Hoe – 50,000g
  • Golden Watering Can – 50,000g
  • Golden Sickle – 50,000g

Make sure to save up tons of money by Year Eight so you can afford these truly awesome tools!

Beyond the Golden tier there’s the Blessed tier. These tools are the end all be all for your farm and the way they are acquired is a bit more involved than before. You will need to max out six different villagers friendship in the Valley. After doing so you will be given Blessed Tools. These tools can be acquired after you’ve acquired the Golden Tools.

  • Clippers – Befriend Kate
  • Fishing Rod – Befriend Gary
  • Hoe – Befriend Vesta
  • Milker – Befriend Tei
  • Sickle – Befriend Pui
  • Watering Can – Befriend Romana

There is one more upgrade: the blessed tools you can get in year 4 if you’ve bought the golden tools and have befriended people (Vesta for the Blessed Hoe, Pui for the Blessed Sickle and have given him 2K G, Romana for the Blessed Watering Can, Tei for the Blessed Miller, Kate for the Blessed Shears, and Gary for the Blessed Fishing Pole)
