Nintendo has confirmed the UK price of the Switch 2 will rise by £24, from £395.99 to £419.99, effective September 1. The confirmation came in a statement posted to the official Nintendo Store UK account, as reported by VGC.
Price increases across regions
Nintendo announced in May that it would raise Switch 2 prices in the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan, although it did not provide all regional figures at the time. In Japan, the increase took effect on May 25 and raised Nintendo hardware prices by around ¥10,000. Other regions will see their increases begin on September 1.
The UK figure completes the previously announced Switch 2 price changes for several regions:
- United States: $449.99 to $499.99, an increase of $50
- Canada: $629.99 to $679.99, an increase of $50
- Europe: €469.99 to €499.99, an increase of €30
- United Kingdom: £395.99 to £419.99, an increase of £24
- Japan: Nintendo hardware prices increased by around ¥10,000 from May 25
Nintendo cites market conditions
When it announced the broader changes in May, Nintendo said it would revise the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices of Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch systems after considering changes in market conditions and the global business outlook. The company also apologized for the effect the revisions could have on customers and other stakeholders.
The increases follow wider pressure on game hardware prices. Nintendo had resisted that pressure to date, while Sony and Microsoft have raised prices for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S hardware numerous times during this generation. RAM prices have also risen significantly over the past year, an increase mainly attributed to AI data centres.

Console prices have historically tended to fall over time. At a comparable stage in the PlayStation 4 lifecycle, the console was available for as little as $200 in some places. The Switch 2 price changes instead move the console in the opposite direction, with the UK price now set to pass £400 from September 1.
The confirmed UK increase gives prospective buyers a clear date and price to consider ahead of the September change.
