A glitch recently arrived in Ubisoft’s The Division with the games April update, in this glitch players gained the ability to bypass powerful enemies by pushing through a wall in order to grab a series of high power level equipment. In using this glitch the game is tricked into never noticing that this equipment has been taken and by ordinary means getting this equipment was available only once per week, due to this players have been able to force themselves through the game quicker then it should be possible.
For Ubisoft players exploiting this glitch is a big no and they are looking into putting some extreme ramifications in place for players who used this glitch in their game.
Ubisoft community manager Natchai Strappers posted a message to the Ubisoft forums on Friday wherein he shared the developers are “working on fixing the exploit.” Furthermore Strappers also directed players to the Ubisoft Code of Conduct which warns players against cheating.
“Obviously it is against our Code of Conduct,” Strappers wrote, “and the team is looking into what can be done in terms of punishment for those who have exploited.”
According to the Code of Conduct, “exploitation of any new or known issues or bugs is forbidden and may result in account suspension or revocation.”
Players of The Division are not happy with Ubisoft’s decision to punish them. For those who responded to the decision on the forum and Reddit the responses are extremly varied where some are only slightly bothered by the decision, others are infuriated. A particular user feels developers should be punished not the players stating:
“Try to understand that your customers can’t create exploits, only you can do that. If you want to hand our punishments, start with your staff. Let’s ban them from their paychecks.”
In response this statement we have to ask ourselves is this person right in their thought and in the same breath realize that they are just complaining. Sure it is developers who accidentally create these glitches but it is the players who choose to use them, if you are one of these people who decided to exploit the glitch then its only right you get punished. Nobody made you do it especially not the developers you chose your own fate so you must lie down and except the consequences of your actions.
