Heroes III Remake Rebuilds Erathia for a New Generation

Ubisoft confirmed Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live on August 25, 2026, setting a 2027 release window for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation. The game is being developed by Ubisoft’s China studios in Chengdu and Shanghai, according to Ubisoft’s official press release.

Heroes of Might and Magic III first launched in 1999. Ubisoft says the remake will retain the original’s blend of turn-based strategy, RPG hero progression, and tactical grid combat while adding quality-of-life improvements, including enhanced planning and decision-making tools.

The remake is being rebuilt from the ground up in Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine. It replaces the original’s fixed 2D isometric perspective with a detailed 3D world and free camera control, alongside 4K visuals, dynamic lighting, real-time weather, and shifting seasons.

Players will join Queen Catherine in her effort to restore order to Erathia after her father’s assassination and an invasion by rival factions. The remake includes the original game’s content and its two expansions, Armageddon’s Blade and The Shadow of Death, as well as all original campaigns and nine factions. Ubisoft says the story has been woven into a single continuous experience, with a new introductory prologue campaign and newly produced cinematics.

Ubisoft’s Xavier Poix, the senior vice president overseeing the studios involved in the project, said the remake is intended to honor the 1999 original while modernizing the experience for a new generation of players and providing a foundation for the franchise’s next chapter.

  • Release window – 2027 for PC through Ubisoft Connect, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, as well as Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation; it will also be available through Ubisoft+.
