Ananta Global Release Date and Platforms

NetEase Games confirmed during gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 that Ananta, its anime-style urban open-world RPG formerly known as Project MUGEN, will launch globally on January 15, 2027 across mobile, PC, and PlayStation 5, as reported by GamingOnPhone.

Ananta was originally revealed as Project MUGEN and was showcased at gamescom in August 2023. The game takes players across Nova City and Lingyun City in Chongxiao, where they can assemble a squad, travel between cities, meet residents, and investigate hidden truths beneath the cities’ daily life.

The latest gamescom trailer highlighted Ananta’s colourful world, anime-style characters, flashy combat, and the contrast between everyday city life and mysterious encounters. Players can travel around the city using vehicles, explore streets, meet characters, and take part in activities while uncovering what is happening beneath the surface.

Combat and exploration

Combat includes fast-paced martial-arts battles and supernatural abilities. The game combines urban exploration with squad-based action, with players able to move through its cities and encounter residents as the story unfolds.

GameDaily reported that players take the role of Captain, a member of the Anomaly Control Department who works to rebuild the agency while searching for a missing father. The outlet also reported that the game includes gaining social influence and reputation in the city, alongside squad combat and varied transportation options.

FullCleared reported that the new trailer expands the setting beyond Nova City to Lingyun City in Chongxiao. It also reported that pre-registration is available and that PC players can wishlist the game on Steam.
