The developer that gave us Angry Birds, a game I love to hate, is now unleashing on the public a new app called Bad Piggies for iOS, Android, and Mac. Later versions for Windows Phone, Windows 8, and PC are planned as well. Rovio's new game is set for release on September 27 and will give players a look on the other side of those slingshots.
That's right. In a twist like those books telling the Big Bad Wolf's point of view, people will get a chance to be the Bad Piggies and seek revenge on all those Angry Bird bullies. There are actually no slingshots to be found in this game, but Rovio promises something fresh and innovative. Via PC Mag:"There's a lot of empathy towards the lovable enemies from the Angry Birds games, and we've been constantly asked: what about the pigs' side of the story?" Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio, said in a statement. "Bad Piggies gives you the chance to play as the second-most-loved characters in the Angry Birds universe, and explore this rich world through their green eyes." The game will bring a "totally new and unique gameplay experience," and there won't be a slingshot anywhere to be found, Petri Järvilehto, executive vice president of games at Rovio, said in a statement. "There's so much more to these pigs than what is seen in the Angry Birds games, and Bad Piggies is the first glimpse into what's going on in the imaginative and ingenious minds of the pigs," Järvilehto added.
Bad Piggies will have a mighty mountain to climb if it wants to even come close to the success the Angry Birds franchise has achieved. They even developed the sequel Angry Birds Space. Just this May, Rovio announced everybody's favorite mobile game reached 1 billion downloads. We'll be watching.
