Bioshock: The Collection has been officially announced, release date revealed

After months of rumors and classifications 2K has finally pulled back the curtain and revealed that Bioshock: The Collection is on its way and will be coming to the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Besides this many key pieces of information have also been revealed which includes the games release date and the content that will be included, as it turns out the collection will be released in September and will run for $59.99. Individually the release dates for Bioshock: The Collection are September 13th on North America, September 16th in Australia, and internationally on September 16th, oh exciting days are here yet again.

As previously revealed Bioshock: The Collection will include all three games, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, and Bioshock Infinite, as well as their additional content (more on that shortly). The collection will be running at 60fps and 1080p, and the remastered games have been handled Blind Squirrel Games who worked with 2K on the project. Out of interest the PC version has not been remastered as it “already meets current-gen console standards and runs smoothly on high visual settings,” this is according to 2K.

BioShock will include the Challenge Rooms originally released with the PlayStation 3 version, as well as the Museum of Orphaned Concepts gallery, which originally appeared in the Ultimate Rapture Edition and is “a Rapture-inspired virtual museum that gives you a behind-the-scenes look at discarded concepts that never made it into the original game,” according to 2K. A new director’s commentary video series titled “Imagining BioShock” featuring creative director Ken Levine and lead animator Shawn Robertson will also be included.

It has also been revealed that Bioshock 2’s multiplayer has been removed (which is not a huge loss), however the challenge downloadable content The Protector Trails, as well as the standalone story content Minerva’s Den will be available in the package. Bioshock Infinite will likewise include all content, from its wave based mode titled Clash in the Clouds, to both parts of the Burial at Sea content. Also included is the Columbia’s finest pack which offers extra weapons and gear.
