According to Gematsu, the original Borderlands might be getting a re-release soon. Reports from the Korean Game Rating Board have listed Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
Although Borderlands is already backwards compatible with current systems, this will be the first time the original has been re-polished and released on current systems.
As a note, Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel have already received the remastered treatment with the release of Borderlands: The Handsome Collection.
While the report signifies a re-release for the original, the word "remaster" is not mentioned. This does not mean anything, as most games being re-released nowadays are remastered in some sort of way, but it could mean that this will be strictly a re-release with nothing changed. As always, we will have to wait and see.
In any case, the re-release of Borderlands does make sense, as more info on Borderlands 3 continues to trickle in. Gearbox clearly wants to reignite its fans' love for the series one more time before the release of the new game.
