Cold War Teasers Glimpsed In Warzone: Know Your History

Despite the recent confirmation that the next Call Of Duty title, a partnership between Treyarch and Raven Software, would arrive before the end of the year, the next game in the franchise still remains shrouded in secrecy. But every now and again, players are treated to glimpses at what to expect from the developers.

The latest teasers, as seen in the clips below, are as brief as they are intriguing. In the midst of playing Warzone, players’ screens, at seemingly random moments, break up into static, revealing the sentence “Know Your History” on screen. What this means, however, still remains unknown, but it’s enough to make us all wonder if it serves a connection to the Cold War/Black Ops theme for the next game.

These ominous messages are certainly catching people off-guard, and it’d be surprising if they weren’t hinting towards the next Call Of Duty.

On the subject of a release date, shoutcaster Chris Puckett recently appeared to suggest that Treyarch would release the new game by November 2020. He seemed to suggest the new game could be expected by the end of the year, in a short clip via Twitter, which has since been deleted.

Since then, Puckett has urged fans not to take the post as a leak, defending the claim with: “I am freelance. I’m not an ATVI employee. I can’t leak info I don’t have.”

During a Q2 earnings call on August 4, Activision confirmed that Call Of Duty 2020 was still on track for release this year. As reported by Charlie Intel, the statement reads: “Activision will continue to build on its direct digital relationship with this expanded community as it delivers the next premium installment for Call of Duty, which comes from the wholly-owned Call of Duty studios Treyarch and Raven Software.”
