The camera pans up to a bonfire smoldering in the dark of night as an ominous and familiar score rises. The greaves of a suited warrior come into focus. With his hand outstretched, the spark explodes. The flame burns bright, and once again, the bonfire has been lit.
Dark Souls Remastered is coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch on May 25, 2018.
Be sure to praise the sun for this remastered classic; I know I am. It’s been a while since I’ve slayed the Bell Gargoyles, and this announcement reminds me of the hours of pain and frustration that had gone into first discovering the strategy for beating those guys, among other bosses, and all of it brings joy to my very dark soul.
I look forward to experiencing this game again, hoping for updates to the mechanics and visuals, but also that the game remains true to the original Dark Souls experience. I’m anxious for a graphical overhaul, as the original game dropped in 2011, and much has changed since then in games. With the endless possibilities and familiar memories that Dark Souls brings you through its unrelenting challenge, character experimentation, unique combat, treasure and easter-egg hunting, and what have you, this remastered edition aims to please.
Additionally, the Artorias of the Abyss DLC will be included with the game.
I plan on purchasing Dark Souls Remastered on the Nintendo Switch, (for it’s portability,) however, I look forward to trying the game out on PC, as well. Dark Souls Remastered will be released on all the consoles mentioned above – on May 25th, 2018.
Prepare to die…. Again. (And again. And again.)
