Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes: How To Get & Use Runes

Like Suikoden, Runes play a major role in the story and gameplay of Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes. Unfortunately, some players may get confused about how to equip their units with the new Runes they have obtained on their journey. Unlike wearing new gear, you cannot equip Runes via the main menu and must visit a specific shop. In this guide, we’ll explain everything you need to know about Runes in Hundred Heroes.

Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes Rune Shop

You can equip new Runes by visiting a Rune Shop in various settlements. The three main characters have seven Rune slots, while the other heroes only have four to six slots. As you progress and level up your units, new slots will be unlocked automatically. Here are the levels you need to reach:

  • Slot 2 – Level 10
  • Slot 3 – Level 20
  • Slot 4 – Level 30
  • Slot 5 – Level 40
  • Slot 6 – Level 50
  • Slot 7 – Level 60

Note that you cannot equip whatever Runes you want since each slot has its own type. Some slots only accept passive Runes, while the All-Type lets you put whatever Runes you need. Here are the details:

  • Enhance: You can equip stat-increase bonuses Runes, such as a 5 percent increase in Magic.
  • Skill: This slot lets you equip Skill Runes that you can use in combat.
  • Passive: You can equip passive Runes that give your units certain resistances, like poison resistance.
  • All Type: You can equip any type of Runes on this slot.
  • Golden Slot: Character-locked Runes that you can’t unequip.

Now that you know how to equip new Runes, you may be curious about how to get these rare magical items. There are three methods that you can use to obtain them:

  • Rune Shop: The easiest but most expensive way to get new Runes. You should upgrade your headquarters to expand the stock in your Rune Shop.
  • Enemy Drop: Some enemies, especially bosses, may drop a Rune after you beat them.
  • Treasure Chest: If you are lucky, you may find some Runes inside a chest during your adventure.
