On August 18, Nintendo showed off approximately 20 indie titles during its all-digital Indie World Showcase event. The livestream introduced both a number brand new indie titles and existing favorites which are being released for the Nintendo Switch. One of the highlights of the event was the reveal that several of the announced titles were available that very day. Fans could immediately head to the Nintendo eShop and purchase and download the indie title or titles of their choice.
It seemed like things couldn’t get any better than that – and then the stream ended with an even more exciting piece of news. The Nintendo Switch eShop will be hosting an Indie World Sale, which began on August 18 and will run through August 30 at 11:59 pm PT (2:59 pm ET). Both titles revealed during the Showcase and other popular indie games will be available for up to 40% off for the duration of this period.
The games announced during the Indie World event which immediately went on sale are A Short Hike, Takeshi & Hiroshi, Raji: An Ancient Epic, Manifold Garden, Hypnospace Outlaw, and Evergate. In addition, Torchlight II is discounted in honor of the announcement of its sequel, Torchlight III, which is planned to arrive on the Nintendo Switch later this fall.
A number of other previously released indie titles are also on sale until August 30. Action fans can pick up Enter the Gungeon or Streets of Rage 4, platform enthusiasts can add the beautifully designed Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition to their collection, while lovers of post-apocalyptic settings and character-driven stories might just enjoy Overland or Neo Cab. In total, over twenty indie games have received discounts via the Nintendo eShop.
