Every Thursday we share the weekly Famitsu sales charts, which tracks physical boxed game sales and hardware sales in Japan. This week’s chart covers June 24 – 30, as the release of Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, a remake of the 3DS’ Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, takes the top spot on its debut. Thanks to over 88,000 copies sold, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD has a #1 debut, and its popularity also saw Luigi’s Mansion 3 rise back into the top 10, taking #7 with a little over 4,000 sales.
After its huge rise last week, the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Edition combo package fell to #4 from top place with its PS5 version after just under 7,000 units were sold, as the PS4 release drops out of the top 10 entirely. In a peculiar twist, Animal Crossing: New Horizons managed to rise considerably to take second place, selling almost 9,000 more copies this week, more than 4 years out from its release date. This could be due to the global Animal Crossing-themed aquarium tour taking place, a natural bump from the most recent Nintendo Direct, or just coincidence!
