Famitsu: Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Massive Launch Crosses 200K Sales

Every Thursday we share the weekly Famitsu sales charts, which tracks physical boxed game sales and hardware sales in Japan. This week’s chart covers Sept. 23 – 29, as we’ve got a hot new release in the form of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. The latest entry in the iconic gaming franchise follows the titular Princess Zelda for the first time in her own game, and it’s made a huge splash with over 200,000 copies sold in its first few days on sale in Japan.

To emphasise this number, the 2019 Switch remake of Link’s Awakening sold 141,000 units in its first week, and the 2021 release of Skyward Sword HD went higher to 159,000 copies. Echoes of Wisdom even managed to outsell the first week sales of Breath of the Wild, which sold 193,000 units in its first few days on sale. In the spirit of fairness though, the Switch had only just released at this time (and we’re excluding Wii U sales).

It’s a big week for new releases, with The Legend of Heroes: Trails of the End – Farewell, O Zemuria taking both #2 and #3 with its PS5 and PS4 release respectively, and a combined total of over 47,000 copies sold across platforms. There’s also the debut of EA Sports FC 25, which sold most on Switch with 13,300 sales, and the PS5 release close behind with just under the same amount. Finally, the otome romance game Moeyo! Otome Doushi: Kayu Koigatari managed to snag #9 with over 5,000 sales.
