Every Thursday we share the weekly Famitsu sales charts, which tracks physical boxed game sales and hardware sales in Japan. This week’s chart covers Sept. 16 – 22, as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe hits the momentous goal of crossing 6 million total sales in Japan. The game lands at #2 on this week’s sales charts thanks to a little under 8,000 additional copies sold. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a mainstay in the Famitsu charts, so it’s unsurprising that the total racked up so high – but still hugely commendable!
As for the top of the chart, the #1 spot goes to Kamaitachi no Yoru x 3, a visual novel game released in celebration of the series’ 30th anniversary, and a compilation of the game’s trilogy of stories. The title sold 23,000 units, giving it a firm spot on top. Third place is the only spot for a non-Nintendo Switch game this week, with Astro Bot taking only a small dip in its third week, selling just shy of 7,000 copies in its third week.
