Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water will coming to North America in time for Halloween, however much to the speculation there is some bad news for this release in North America. A few months back word started to spread that the North American release for Fatal Frame was going to be eShop only, a new press release by Nintendo confirmed this. Compared to the European release for the game which still features a physical copy (even if its only a limited edition), the North American is strictly eShop only with Nintendo specifically saying that Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water “launches exclusively in the Nintendo eShop on Wii U on Oct. 22 for $49.99, just in time for Halloween.”
Thankfully this won’t have to outright purchase the game as a demo version will be available allowing players the ability to experience the game, this demo will provide players the opportunity to play the Prologue, first chapter and most of the second. Then if you wish to continue you will be able to purchase the rest of the game as downloadable content from the eShop or via the in game menu.
