By Defeating Thanatos
You can get Darksteel by defeating one of the A-rank Notorious Marks, Thanatos. But before you search for this enemy, remember to unlock it on the Hunt board, which you can access after completing the Brotherhood story quest.
You can find Thanatos in Titan’s Wake, which is situated in the region of Dhalmekia. It can fire a powerful laser beam and jump into the air to come crashing down on you. When you defeat this menacing monster, you will get Darksteel as well as plenty of Gil, XP, Ability Points, and Renown.
By Defeating Prince Of Death
Another A-rank Notorious Mark that you can take on to obtain Darksteel is the Prince of Death. In order to spawn this enemy on the Hunt board, you must complete the side quest Under New Management II, which will be available after you have completed the first Under New Management quest.
Once you’re done with both quests, you will find Grim Reaper, Prince of Death in Northreach, which is situated in the Sanbreque region. Now, defeat the monster and grab some more Darksteel as your reward!
