Chocobo has been a staple in any Final Fantasy game, and this lovely bird also appears in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to ride this creature automatically, and you must complete a certain quest to obtain your own Chocobo. If you are curious, you can check out this handy guide to find out how to get your first Chocobo in FF7 Rebirth.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Unlocking Chocobo Guide
FF7 Rebirth contains several open-world maps, each having its own Chocobo. For example, the first area you visit is the Grasslands, and you must obtain a Chocobo to reach the Mythril Mine. However, once you reach Junon, you cannot use your first Chocobo and must obtain another type of Chocobo to traverse this zone. On the plus side, each kind of Chocobo has a unique skill that lets you explore its specific area more freely.
Grasslands
You can get your first Chocobo by visiting Bill’s Ranch on the east side of Kalm in FF7 Rebirth. Billy will order you to retrieve a Chocobo named Pico, who has gone missing. After following the tracks, you will discover the bird hanging out in a field with its kind. To prevent them from running away, you must use stealth to avoid being noticed by the Chocobos.
Junon
The process of getting a Chocobo in Junon is quite similar to the Grasslands. You must start the Stuck in a Rut side quest by speaking with another Chocobo rancher. This time, you must use various carts to make your way to the black Chocobo, Belle, which has been staying inside an abandoned building.
Corel
Getting a Chocobo in Corel is very easy. You just have to complete the main mission until you are allowed to exit Costa del Sol. Afterward, you must speak with an employee at the Rent-A-Bird Stables and purchase a permit.
Gongaga
You will automatically obtain a Chocobo in Gongaga in FF7 Rebirth by progressing through the main story. Just wait until you have to control Tifa, and you will be given a Chocobo to reach a Reactor.
Cosmo Canyon
We’re back to playing another stealth mini-game to unlock a Chocobo in Cosmo Canyon. You must accept the Bonds of Trust side quest, where you must capture a Chocobo named Aponi in FF7 Rebirth.
Nibel
Similar to Cosmo Canyon, you also need to complete another stealth mission. You must start the Esoteric Secrets of the Elders side quest and capture a Chocobo called Selena.
