Fortnite Details Nintendo Switch 2 Update – 60 FPS, Free Emote, Mouse Controls And More

For most of us, it’s the day before the Nintendo Switch 2 launches – but for some parts of the world it’s already here! As such, gaming companies have started detailing all you can expect with their new updates for Nintendo Switch 2, and one of the first to fully detail everything we can expect with its Switch 2 upgrade is Fortnite! Over on the official website, Fortnite has detailed everything new on the Switch 2 Edition of Epic Games’ battle royale, and it sounds very promising.

Firstly, Fortnite will run at 60 FPS at a resolution of 2176×1224 when docked, and 1600×900 when undocked. This will be combined with new higher quality textures, shadows, water rendering and view distances, along with the enabling of clothing physics to make the whole world of Fortnite feel more alive in every game mode. Gamers can also now capture videos in-game using the Capture button, along with accessing saved Replays and using GameChat to share your game stream with friends.

All game modes in Fortnite will get a visual update on Switch 2, but Save The World is missing.

The Switch 2 is also getting some new Fortnite features that other systems don’t have, starting with mouse control support using the Joy-Con 2. This will only be available from June 7, so you’ll need to play with the standard controller for a few days first. A free ‘Wishing Star’ emote will also be available to all players logging in to Fortnite between now and March 31 next year. The description for the emote even references Kirby Air Rider, saying “Grab a shooting star […] you can’t go on an air ride with it”. Strangely, Epic have decided that the Save The World game mode will not be available on Switch 2.
