Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective Remaster Releasing for Multiple Platforms

Officially revealed earlier this year, the remaster of mystery game Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective now has an official release date – June 30, 2023. This date, along with other new information regarding the updated game, was revealed during Capcom’s Showcase event on March 9. In addition to a release date, fans got the exciting information that the Ghost Trick remaster will be coming out for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Initially released in 2010 for the Nintendo DS, Ghost Trick, written and directed by Ace Attorney creator Shu Takumi, puts players into the role of Sissel, who mysteriously finds himself dead. Although he has died, Sissel possesses ghostly powers that allow him to interact with the living world in certain ways.

Players can possess objects in the Ghost World and then use special actions called Ghost Tricks to manipulate these objects in the Land of the Living. Plus, you can travel back four minutes before a person’s death to attempt to change their fate! Sissel works to protect Lynne, a young detective, while also trying to figure out how he himself ended up as a ghost.

The remastered version of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective will feature updated graphics, quality-of-life improvements, and new and updated arrangements of all 37 tracks by Yasumasa Kitagawa, who previously served as music director for The Great Ace Attorney duology. New music composed by Masakazu Sugimori will also be included. In addition, a new feature called “Challenges” allows players to complete puzzles in order to unlock new music and illustrations.

Pre-orders for the remastered version of Ghost Trick are now available. The preorder bonus for this game includes a set of four backgrounds featuring characters from the game such as Sissel and Lynne as well as two new music tracks, “Chicken Paradise” and “Missile, Brave Little Creature.” The latter of these is a new theme for Missile, the absolutely adorable Pomeranian who quickly became one of Ghost Trick’s most popular characters.
