Today featured the most significant free game launch in EGS history as it’s crashed the site — and with good reason. Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V was this week’s freebie, and it’s the first time PC players have been able to enjoy the game at no cost.
GTA V first hit the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in August 2013 before coming to the PC, Xbox One, and PS4 in April 2015. The current-gen versions increased texture quality, allowed for better draw distance, and included a first-person mode alongside longer-term investments in GTA Online.
GTA Online improvements will enable you to take on more heists, which were some of the most involved missions in the series’ history in the single-player portion of the game.
If you have Twitch Prime, you can link your accounts and get a ton of in-game currency for GTA Online. As of this writing, the Epic Games Store is down due to high traffic.
Beyond this being a big-name freebie, Epic also decided to launch a massive game sale on the same day, so hopefully, the store will be back up, and everyone can enjoy GTA V at no cost.
