Helldivers 2 Update 7.2.0 ‘Devoid of Liberty’ Announced on Steam

Arrowhead Game Studios announced HELLDIVERS 2 update 7.2.0, titled “Devoid of Liberty,” in an October 20 post on the game’s official Steam news channel.

The announcement confirms the patch’s name and version number, and little else in text form. Steam’s store page for the game also lists a trailer named “Devoid of Liberty,” which suggests the update was promoted ahead of release. The full patch notes sit on the Steam announcement page itself.

A patch with company on its launch day

October 20 was already a marked date for the shooter. On October 13, Arrowhead said on the PlayStation Blog that the “Scope of Authority” Premium Warbond would launch on October 20, the same day patch 7.2.0 landed. The Warbond, HELLDIVERS 2’s battle-pass-style content track, was announced to add bolt-action, laser and anti-material rifles.

The overlap points to a coordinated content drop rather than a routine maintenance patch. Whether the Warbond content rides inside 7.2.0 or ships as a separate drop is not stated in the patch post, and the announcement does not describe balance changes, weapons or fixes.

What is and is not confirmed

HELLDIVERS 2 is developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by PlayStation Publishing LLC, and it launched on Steam on February 8, 2024, where it is priced at €39.99. Verified Steam data covers the Windows build; the patch post does not say whether 7.2.0 is live on other platforms.

For a live-service shooter whose galactic-war narrative moves with every update, the title alone gives players a hint of tone. “Devoid of Liberty” follows a period in which the Illuminate threat was declared contained, and the name suggests the story is not easing up after it.
