I thought Dead Island was pretty fun, so I was dissapointed to learn that the rumor from a source close to Yager Development and reported by IGN Germany eariler this week that Yager would assist in giving us all a sequel to this bloody fantastic game… is actually false. Deep Silver, the developer that helped create Dead Island, is not working with Yager or anybody else on a Dead Island sequel just yet.
Guido Eickmeyer, the Development Director for Deep Silver explains:
“We are neither working with Yager on Dead Island 2 nor do we have any contractual agreement with Yager about any project at this point.”
Buuuut:
“Yager and Deep Silver do have a very close relationship, based on personal and professional connections between the parties. There is a legitimate chance that we will – at some point – work together on a title – and I would not even exclude the possibility that this could be something within the Dead Island franchise.”
So there’s hope. The game has sold more than 3 million units so far, thanks to its award winning marketing. I just wanna bash more zombie heads in, so hurry up with #2.
