Just when you think that major game projects based on film properties are done, someone surfaces with the unexpected. Bandai Namco, Outright Games, and UK developer Funsolve, have revealed that they are bringing a game based on Jumanji to modern systems, aptly titled Jumanji: The Video Game.
In collaboration with Sony Pictures, Jumanji is an officially licensed title based on the film franchise. In the perspective of the heroes of the latest film, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, players will set off to find the precious jewels that are key to saving the world, all while trying to find a way home. Along the way, however, there will be deadly challenges, exotic creatures, dangerous locations, and much more.
The game will feature online or split-screen multiplayer modes where players can team up with up to three friends to take on the challenges of the jungle. There will be four playable characters including Dr. Smolder Bravestone, Ruby Roundhouse, Franklin “Mouse” Finbar, and Professor Shelly Oberon. Each character comes with their own abilities which players will utilize in order to survive the ordeals to come.
In a press release, Funsolve Founder and Director, Richard Tawn, expressed his excitement for the project, saying:
This is a dream come true for our studio. Adapting the exotic, dangerous and hilarious world of Jumanji into a video game has pushed us to create something truly special. We’ve got some incredibly exciting features and reveals coming soon, but for now let’s just say the game is coming this November, and puts you in the shoes of iconic Jumanji heroes.”
Jumanji: The Video Game arrives for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 15. Check out the teaser for the game below:
