A new patch was recently released for the Japanese version of Super Smash Bros., and it contained a huge amount of data that was not previously available. A data miner who goes by Random Talking Bush has found full movesets for both Roy and Ryu. Roy, of course, has the same moveset that he had in Melee, but Ryu’s is a bit more interesting. His down special might be a parry like in the Street Fighter series rather than a counter like other Smash characters. Instead of retaliating automatically, it’s possible that Ryu’s down special will only negate damage and knockback, allowing players to react however they wish.
Dreamland 64 has also been confirmed as DLC for both the 3DS and Wii U versions, and it is identical to the original stage. Ryu’s stage, based on a stage from Street Fighter 2, has also been discovered, but ironically it is not fit for competitive play, as the right side of the stage is a walk-off.
Ryu’s alt colors all come from Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, while Roy’s are based on various Fire Emblem characters. Models for new Mii Fighter costumes have also been found. There are MegaMan.EXE and Isabelle costumes for the Mii Gunner, a Zero costume for the Mii Swordfighter, and Tekken and Virtua Fighter costumes for the Mii Brawler.
Additionally, there have been Rhythm Heaven music tracks added, and they aren’t for the Miiverse stage. This, along with the Gematsu leak and the ghost in Smash Run, points to the inclusion of the Chorus Boys as a fighter, but they likely won’t be revealed until later, similar to how some of Ryu and Roy’s files were found in the Mewtwo patch. An Inkling Girl trophy was found as well, and since DLC so far has not added trophies beyond trophies for new fighters, it’s possible that Inklings could be added as a fighter too.
