Martha Is Dead Coming To PS5

Italian studio LKA (The Town of Light) and publisher Wired Studios have announced that LKA’s upcoming title Martha Is Dead will be coming out on the PlayStation 5 next year. The game was only confirmed for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC back in August. It can currently be wishlisted on Steam.  A new age-gated trailer for the game can be found here.

Set during WWII, Martha Is Dead puts players somewhere in the Italian countryside as Axis and Allied forces draw near. The body of a young woman named Martha is found on the shore of a nearby lake, clearly drowned, and clearly not by accident. As Martha’s twin sister, players must deal with the sudden death of Martha while the shadow of war looms ever closer. Using Unreal Engine 4, the game combines real-world locations with historic events, superstition, folklore, and psychological distress. The game was created with assistance the European Union’s Creative Europe Program.

Martha is Dead represents a step forward for LKA,” said Luca Dalco, LKA’s founder, in a press release. “This is a game that merges the raw power of PC and next-generation consoles, and all we’ve learned from developing The Town of Light. Martha is Dead is an evolution in psychological storytelling, and we’re driven to build a compelling, gripping world full of twists and turns for players to explore in 2021.”

Leo Zullo, managing director at Wired Productions, also added, “Now players have next-generation consoles in their hands, it’s exciting to watch Martha is Dead take shape on both PlayStation and the Xbox family of devices. The game builds upon developer LKA’s signature style of deep, multi-layered narratives and was always intended to be a multi-platform release that raises expectations of what can be achieved by an indie studio on next-generation hardware and PC.”
