Modern Warfare III – The Mini-Map Red Dot Returns?

The mini-map red dot, a beloved feature from last year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, could make a comeback. If the information shared online is to be believed and genuine, the red dot could be returning for this year’s Modern Warfare III release.

In a post from ModernWarzone (via their Twitter channel), players are advised to text the phrase “red dot” to a promotional number, which allegedly confirmed that the red dot feature will be back for Modern Warfare III

“Call of Duty has just confirmed that the classic mini map – AKA red dots appearing when firing an unsuppressed weapon,” the post reads. “Reply “red dot” to the text and you’ll get a confirmation of this for yourself! I almost missed the hint!,” the post concludes.

Beneath the caption are a series of SMS messages screen grabbed from a phone. The user asks if multiplayer enemies can be marked on the mini map, and in response, the promotional number replies with a red dot emoji and the word “confirmed.”

Naturally, members of the Call of Duty community were skeptical as to the legitimacy of the messages. In a follow-up tweet, the ModernWarzone channel revealed a twelve-second clip of “mission critical intel” documenting the entire SMS conversation. If the information is genuine, it looks as if Modern Warfare III will bring back a dearly missed feature absent from the 2022 title.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is scheduled to launch on November 10, 2023, across Playstation, Xbox, and PC. A Warzone 2 event will give players their first full look into the threequel, so make sure you have the latest version of the battle-royale installed.
