In My Time at Sandrock, you are a Builder responsible for running a Workshop that serves the town of Sandrock. From this Workshop, you can build any number of items that the town needs, ranging from small parts to giant machines. While there are many things to do in My Time at Sandrock, running your Workshop serves as the core of the game.
The Workshop Knowledge skill tree covers the machines you use to craft items and complete Builder Commissions – your Worktable, Furnace, Assembly Station, and more. Investing Knowledge Points in this tree will help your Workshop run more efficiently, allowing you to produce more items, earn more Gols, and more quickly upgrade to advanced versions of each machine.
Here are a few great Workshop skills to invest in first:
Water Conservation Knowledge
The motto of Sandrock is “Conserve Water,” as Minister Matilda of the Church will constantly remind you. So, of course, investing Knowledge Points in saving water is extremely important! Water is a scarce resource in the desert, and every single machine in your workshop requires it to run. You can either purchase water from the Water World store or create it yourself using dew harvested from desert plants. Luckily, investing in this Knowledge tree can help you make the most out of what little water you have.
You can spend up to three Workshop Knowledge Points to unlock the following effects:
- Water use by machines slowed by 10%
- Dew Collector efficiency increased by 50%
- Amount of Dew needed to make water decreased by 2 (from 10 to 8)
Bag Knowledge
As one of Sandrock’s two Builders, your pockets will never be empty. You will constantly be carrying around scraps, tools, weapons, health-restoring food, gifts for the town’s residents, and many more odds and ends. Especially early in the game, it is very easy to run out of space in your Bag. Luckily, you can invest up to two Knowledge Points in Bag Knowledge to increase your maximum Bag slots by a total of 40 spaces.
Learner Knowledge
The Workshop Knowledge tree is one of the most extensive in the game, with many different areas of Knowledge to choose to invest in. Thus, it’s important to maximize the amount of Workshop EXP you earn while your machines are running. You can do this by investing two Knowledge Points in Learner Knowledge. The first point grants you 10% more EXP when assembling items on your Assembly Station, while the second grants you a small chance to earn double EXP when using the Assembly Station.
More advanced Workshop Knowledge will let you focus on mastering specific machines such as the Worktable, Ore Refiner, or Mineral Filtrator. You can also invest Knowledge Points in upgrading your house, yard, and even the selling price of your livestock.
