There are over 100 characters to get to know in My Time at Sandrock, ranging from romanceable bachelors and bachelorettes to adorable adoptable pets. However, the relationship-building process is a slow one, requiring talking to each person many times and spending a great deal of time with them. The Social Knowledge tree allows you to maximize the benefits you reap from engaging with Sandrock’s many residents. It also covers your workshop’s Reputation, which lets you earn better rewards and accept more valuable Commissions.
Here are a few great Social skills to invest your Social Knowledge Points in first:
Commissions And Contracting Knowledge
Throughout most of My Time at Sandrock, taking on Commissions for townspeople will be your primary source of income. Successfully turning in Commissions can also increase your Workshop Reputation and your relationship with the commissioner. Initially, you are limited to accepting a single commission at a time, but you can increase this to two at once by investing one Knowledge Point in Commissions and Contracting Knowledge.
Chat And Gift Knowledge
Initially, chatting with a character will only give you a single Favor point, increasing your relationship with them by a minimal amount. As it takes quite a lot of Favor to level up your relationships, you need to maximize your Favor acquisition as quickly as possible. You can do this by investing two Knowledge Points in Chat and Gift Knowledge. The first point gives you a 10% chance to earn extra Favor when Chatting, while the second gives one additional Favor when giving someone a Gift they like.
Hang-Out And Date Knowledge
If you want to pursue romance in My Time at Sandrock, this is THE most important Knowledge to invest in as soon as possible. Once your relationship with a character has increased, you are able to Hang Out with them, playing games, eating a meal together, or performing other activities around town. Once you confess to a character and begin a romantic relationship, Hang-Outs are upgraded to Dates, where you can hold hands and give romantic gifts.
However, the number of actions you can perform with a character when Hanging Out with them or Dating them is limited, so each interaction comes with a risk of displeasing the character and lowering your relationship with them rather than improving it. You can increase your chance of successful Dates by investing two Knowledge Points in Hang-Out and Date Knowledge. This lets you perform 2-3 additional Actions while Dating or Hanging Out with any character.
Of course, these are just a few of the many areas of Social Knowledge you can unlock in My Time at Sandrock. There are tons of valuable Social Knowledge options not covered in this guide that you may choose to prioritize on your own play-through. For example, you can increase the effects of taking out an Ad in the newspaper, increase Favor earned when partying, buying from shops, or dining at the Blue Moon Saloon, and much more!
