Announced earlier this year, the “musou-style” fighting game Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes will once again bring players back to Fodlan, the war-torn land first introduced in the 2019 title Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Taking on the role of a new protagonist, a mysterious mercenary called Shez, players must decide once more between three factions: the Black Eagles led by Edelgard, the Blue Lions led by Dimitri, and the Golden Deer led by Claude.

Previous trailers revealed that playable characters will be receiving re-designs, showing off new looks for the lords and their retainers Hubert, Dedue, and Hilda as well as a few glimpses of other characters. Now, Nintendo has shown off the entirety of the Blue Lions house, who fight for the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, in a brand new trailer which gives individual focus to each character from the house.

While Dimitri’s lance work and Dedue’s defensive-style combat had been shown off previously, this trailer was fans’ first look at how the rest of the houses will fare in combat. In general, the characters’ play styles seem fairly similar to Three Houses – Mercedes uses magic and Annette both magic and axes, while Felix is a speedy swordsman, Sylvain a mounted lance unit, and Ashe an infantry bowman. Although she had many class options available to her in Three Houses, including mounted and infantry options, Ingrid is portrayed as an airborne Pegasus Knight.

Fans were quick to notice other details relating to the characters’ new designs and play styles. Sylvain, Ingrid, Dimitri, and Annette are all shown wielding Heroes’ Relics associated with their noble families, while Felix is notably missing the shield tied to his Crest of Fraldarius and Mercedes the gem accessory that pairs with her Crest of Lamine. Additionally, Felix is portrayed wearing a cloak similar to the one belonging to his father Rodrigue, potentially indicating that Rodrigue may be dead or otherwise out of commission during the events of Three Hopes.

With just over a month left until Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes releases for the Nintendo Switch on June 24, fans are hoping that Nintendo will share similar trailers for the Black Eagles and Golden Deer houses. There could also potentially be a trailer for characters affiliated with the Church of Seiros, such as Flayn, who was briefly shown in a previous trailer.
