Mario Kart 64 made its way to the European Wii U virtual console this week, and with this new release some new information has been revealed. With this it has been revealed that Mario Kart 64 actually has left some things out of the new virtual console release, unfortunately this is actually nothing new. When Mario Kart 64 arrived for the Wii virtual console Nintendo chose not to bring back the time trial modes ghost data, and of course Nintendo has not brought this feature back with the Wii U virtual console release.
Understandably the reason behind this features absence is simply because of a feature unavailable outside of the Nintendo 64 meaning the controller pak device which was a big part of how the ghost data operated.
