Octopath Traveler II Has Almost Finished Development

The latest issue of Famitsu features a message from Square Enix about the current state of development for Octopath Traveler II, and it’s good news for fans. The message, provided by Noisy Pixel, reads as follows:

We’re excited to finally announce to everyone that Octopath Traveler II’s development is 90% complete. We are currently in the last stretch, so we ask that you wait just a little bit more. Keep an eye out for further information coming out at a later date.

Octopath Traveler II uses the hugely influential HD-2D art style of the original title.

The first game released for Nintendo Switch in 2018, so fans of the game have had quite the wait for the follow-up. First being announced in this month’s Nintendo Direct, Octopath Traveler II promises a new world and new characters, along with new gameplay mechanics.

A day and night system will have new Path Actions depending on the time of day, giving characters more to do as the days pass. The characters will also be interacting more with intertwining stories and interactions between the protagonists. This was a big criticism for the first Octopath Traveler, so it’s nice to see the developers listening to fan feedback.

We’re pleased to know the development of the game has seemingly gone so smoothly, ready for release on PlayStation 4/5, Steam and Nintendo Switch in February 2023. Let us know if you’re excited for Octopath Traveler II below, and keep your eyes on GameLuster for more gaming news.
