PC Indie Gem CrossCode Coming to PlayStation 4

Publisher Deck13 Interactive is collaborating with Radical Fish Games to bring CrossCode to PlayStation 4 later this year. They have also announced via Twitter that the PS4 version of CrossCode will be playable at PAX East.

CrossCode is an action RPG that entered Early Access on Steam in 2015 after a successful IndieGoGo campaign. The full game is expected to release this summer on PC after a couple of years in Early Access.

CrossCode is a callback to classic SNES-era titles like Secret of Mana and Link Between Worlds. It boasts fast-paced and fluid combat that’s more about skill than stats and equipment. CrossCode also features dungeons reminiscent of old Zelda games, except with a modern flavor.

The game also uses “hi-bit” graphics, which is essentially high-quality pixel art. As you can see from these images, they certainly deliver. The attention to detail is astounding, and the game is full of color and vigor. Even if you’re sick of indie games using pixel art, CrossCode may be able to change your opinion.

You can take a look at the game in motion in this gameplay trailer below.

Radical Fish Games has also been keeping their community constantly updated on the progress of the game. They post monthly progress updates on their official website and even livestream the development. This level of engagement with the fan base is always refreshing to see as they have gone above and beyond the standard. It’s this level of transparency that makes supporting an Early Access product more worthwhile.

It’s very exciting to see another upcoming indie coming to PS4. When it comes to video games, the more the merrier.
