PS Plus October 2023 Titles – From Crops To Cosmic Horror

The latest titles to launch as part of the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games have been announced. As confirmed via the Playstation.BlogThe Callisto Protocol leads the line-up and will be available for PlayStation Plus subscribers on Tuesday, October 3 until Monday, November 6.

Developed by Striking Distance StudiosThe Callisto Protocol was launched across all major platforms in December 2022 and received a mixed reception on release. The survival horror title, set 300 years into the future, drops players into Black Iron Prison, “a maximum-security penitentiary located on Jupiter’s moon, Callisto.”

“When inmates begin to transform into monstrous creatures, the prison is thrown into chaos. To survive, Jacob must battle his way to safety to escape Black Iron Prison while uncovering the dark and disturbing secrets buried beneath the surface of Callisto,” the description reads. Available on the PS4 and PS5.

For gameplay, The Callisto Protocol incorporates “a unique blend of shooting and close-quarters combat” as players fight “the rapidly evolving creatures while scavenging to unlock new weapons, gear, and abilities to outrun the growing threat and escape the horrors of Jupiter’s Dead Moon.”

For all of its faults, the title is dripping in atmosphere, tension, and eerily beautiful visuals. Second up on the list is Farming Simulator 22, available on the PS4 and PS5.

Worlds away from the horror, blood, and gore of CallistoFarming Simulator 22 is for someone who wants to unwind after a long day at the office with an inclination to tend to their agricultural hobbies. “Take on the role of a modern farmer and creatively build your farm in three diverse American and European environments,” the blog post outlines.

Lastly, we have Weird West, deemed as a “dark fantasy reimagining” set in the Wild West. Gunslingers and officers of the law have divided the landscape with magical creatures in an “isometric action RPG” that supports multiple gameplay styles.

Weird West, developed by WolfEye Studios and launched in March 2022, is “a simulated sandbox world where characters, factions, and even places react to a player’s decisions, and players are faced with brutal choices and consequences that can’t be undone – including death.”

Available on the PS4 and PS5.

Until October 2, PS Plus subscribers can still download Saints RowBlack Desert – Traveler Edition, and Generation Zero to their libraries.
