Rebellion Reveals the Future for the Sniper Elite Series

Fans of the Sniper Elite series have been waiting since 2017, when Sniper Elite 4 released, to see where the series would go next. It has been radio silence for a while now, but developer Rebellion Developments has revealed the future for the series with various games in the works. This will cover past entries for an assortment of platforms, as well as new additions that will expand the series.

The primary announcements covers two of the series’ past games being brought to new platforms. Namely, a current-generation remaster of Sniper Elite V2 will be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. A port of Sniper Elite 3 has also been confirmed for the Nintendo Switch. Sniper Elite V2 Remastered will come with additional modes unavailable in the original release. Support for 4K resolution will also be available via any platform compatible. These were the only actual game announcements, but Rebellion did highlight the series future.

While no title has been given, Rebellion has confirmed that they are working on a VR take on the series, a natural advancement. They have also confirmed “the next major title” is happening. They have made no mention as to whether this will be titled Sniper Elite 5 as many would expect, but it is more than likely.

While official news on the next new title might be a while off, fans of the series do have remasters and ports to enjoy. You can even check out the trailer for Sniper Elite V2 Remastered, which is looking good. It is safe to say that fans of Sniper Elite have a lot to anticipate in the future. Sniper Elite V2 is expected to arrive sometime later in the year, although no official release date has been announced.
