Classic high-intensity one-on-one action title SNK Gals’ Fighters is now available on the Nintendo Switch for the first time ever. The game, which was originally released for the Neo Geo Pocket Color back in 2000, features female characters from the King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting and Samurai Shodown series engaging in intense, fast-paced combat.
The Switch version of the game was released on April 29, 2020. Gals’ Fighters was ported to the Switch in order to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Neo Geo system. Its porting was also likely a result of the positive reception received by its sequel, SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy, which was released for both the Switch and PlayStation 4 in 2018.
Players can take control of popular SNK heroines such as Fatal Fury’s Mai Shiranui and Leona Heidern of King of Fighters ’96 fame in 1-on-1 combat scenarios. The game also features a story mode in which characters take part in the Queen of Fighters tournament hosted by the mysterious “Miss X”. Train together with the heroine of your choice and rise to the top of the ranks. Perhaps you will even become strong enough to challenge Miss X herself!
Highlights of the game include an adorable anime-inspired art style and hilarious character interactions which will leave you laughing for hours! There are eleven playable characters to choose from, in addition to several hidden characters which you can discover throughout the game. Training Mode allows you to practice fighting with each character before taking on the tournament.
The Switch version of SNK Gals’ Fighters introduces the ability to challenge a friend in either Tabletop or Handheld Mode. The game is available for digital download and costs $7.99 USD.
