It seems Splatoon 3 is heading for a big finale, as a new Grand Festival event has been announced by Nintendo, scheduled to begin on Sept. 13 and ending on Sept. 16, that’s a full 72-hour Splatfest! The event promises to be full of music, competition and fun for all players, with all three iconic idol groups of the Splatoon franchise making an appearance to potentially mark the end of the game’s new content update support.
Back when Splatoon 3 had a dedicated Direct before launch, support was promised for two years after launch. As Splatoon 3 released in September of 2022, this Grand Festival event coincides exactly when the promised amount of support is scheduled to end. As such, the (potentially final) new Splatfest question will ask players to decide which is most important to them – past, present or future?
The celebrations don’t end in-game however, as two new pairs of amiibo figures will be released on Sept. 5, featuring a redesigned Squid Sisters amiibo pair in their Alterna gear, and a redesigned Off the Hook amiibo pair with their Side Order DLC designs. Pre-orders may start rolling out soon, so keep an eye out if you’re interested.
If that’s not enough, a new physical bundled version of Splatoon 3 will be released in-stores on July 25, that combines the base game, a code for the Expansion Pass DLC, and a 90 day Nintendo Switch Online subscription, to get new players locked in for three months of online play.
It’s been an excellent run for Splatoon 3 which had a record-breaking launch in Japan, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for Nintendo’s newest and flourishing IP.
