Nintendo decided to cause chaos in the Splatoon fandom today, with their sudden reveal of a brand new spin-off Splatoon game with Splatoon Raiders via the Nintendo Today app. Along with the reveal of a new game though, Nintendo also dropped a lot of news about Splatoon 3, including a brand new surprise content update, plus a free upgrade for Nintendo Switch 2 users.
Releasing on June 12, Ver 10.0.0 brings thirty new weapons to Splatoon 3, the return of the Urchin Underpass map from the first Splatoon, along with an increase on the cap of Maximum Freshness that can be earned with each weapon. With the cap raised from five stars to ten stars, Splatoon 3 players now have even more room to flex their weapon abilities, along with some new badges for your profile to highlight your weapon proficiency. For those even more competitively minded, a new Series Weapon Power system will show your power level per weapon in S rank or higher Anarchy Battle (Series) games, and match you only with those of similar power levels.

For those with the newly released Nintendo Switch 2, the new Splatoon 3 update will also bring improvements to graphic quality and frame rates – for free! You can check them out in full 4K with today’s latest Splatoon presentation. The frame rates were already perfectly smooth when playing in multiplayer matches, but those sluggish slow lobby frame rates are a thing of the past thanks to the Switch 2’s hardware power. The Ver 10.0.0 releases for all players on June 12, across the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
