Square Enix’s Hajime Tabata has said that the Zelda franchise is one he’s like to work on

Ah, The Legend of Zelda made by the man behind Final Fantasy XV sounds like a match made in heaven doesn’t it, in all honesty I would say no but as it turns out this is the dream for Hajime Tabata. In one of the issues of the magazine Denkegi Playstation earlier this month, the publication reached out to several notable developers ranging from Tetsuya Nomura to Keiji Inafune. This feature was made to celebrate the publications 600th issue where developers were asked a variety of questions.

The most notable of those asked is that of Hajime Tabata, currently Tabata is hard at work of Final Fantasy XV. Tabata was asked which company’s title he would like to work on as a member of staff? To which he responded with this:

“The Legend of Zelda series. I’m not quite sure why myself, but a Zelda game made with the technology and know-how of Final Fantasy XV is the game I wish to create as of this moment.”

I can’t honestly see this ever working but thankfully this is just a playful chat and honestly nothing is really in the works at this time, but in a future point stranger collaborations have happened and it would be interesting to see how Square Enix would put their own stamp on such an iconic franchise.
