Starfield features numerous weapons, consumables, and resources you must collect to progress through the game. Although you can carry many items from the get-go, you will eventually pass your carry capacity and become encumbered. You definitely want to avoid this situation, so here’s a guide on how to increase your weight limit!
Starfield Weight Limit & Carry Capacity Guide
You can increase your carry capacity permanently by upgrading the Weight Lifting skill in the Physical section. Like other skills, you can level up this ability four times until it reaches Rank 4.
- Rank 1: Increase total carrying capacity by 10 kilograms.
- Rank 2: Increase total carrying capacity by 25 kilograms.
- Rank 3: Increase total carrying capacity by 50 kilograms.
- Rank 4: Increase total carrying capacity by 100 kilograms. Gain 50 percent resistance to stagger.
Besides having the necessary Skill Points, you also need to complete various challenges to upgrade the Weight Lifting skill’s rank. The challenge consists of spriting for a certain distance while you’re at 75 percent or more of your maximum load capacity.
Another way to increase your weight limit is by finding five Peak Performance magazines scattered on various planets. Each magazine that you discover will increase your carry capacity by 5 kilograms.
If you don’t mind cheating, you can also use a console command to manually set your weight limit to a ridiculous amount. To access the console command menu, you simply need to press the tilde key (~) on your keyboard. Then, you need to type “player.modav carryweight x“.
You can replace the “x” with any number you want. For example, say you want to increase your carry capacity to 1000 kilograms. So, you need to enter “player.modav carryweight 1000” into the console command text box.
Do note that the console command is only available if you’re playing on a PC. The game will also prevent you from unlocking any achievements in Starfield once you activate one of these console commands.
