Sakurai has taken to Miiverse to deliver the picture of the day and the following message:
Pic of the day. The Gust Bellows can blow opponents away with its powerful wind blasts. When someone drops it, though, the gusts run wild! Out of the new items, more than a few will be from The Legend of Zelda series. We’ll take the most interesting and straightforward ones and reformulate them to match the Smash Bros. world.
For those who are not familiar the Gust Bellows was an item introduced in the Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword, it was a handy little item mostly used for blowing away big piles of sand found in the Lanayru desert section of the surface. I think it is great that this is set to be a usable weapon pickup as it is a really cool item, for all purposes sometimes it could be great to get some distance between yourself and your opponent which is where this item will definitely come in handy, perhaps you might even just like attempting to blow your enemy off the stage. In short this is going to be a whole lot of fun to use. Another point I wish to discuss today is Sakurai’s comment on items, it really is nice to hear that there are going to be a fair portion of new items made available that are going to heavily reference the game franchises as there are quite a few excellent fits from the Zelda franchise and many others. I can’t wait to find out what else he has in store for us, maybe there may even be a number of game changers who knows.
