The first wave of toys for Illumination’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie has officially been revealed. Whilst the usual cast of characters including Mario, Luigi and Peach are all present, the real highlight is the Bowser figurine. While at first glance it may seem like an ordinary seven-inch Bowser figure, this Koopa King toy can actually breathe fire, or the illusion of it at least. The figurine releases a mist through its mouth that is backlit by a bright orange LED light, creating an impressive fire-breathing effect.

Sure, it isn’t actually fire, but something tells us that a plastic toy breathing burning flames wouldn’t go down well with parents. The official Super Mario Bros. Movie Bowser figure goes on sale Feb. 26, and will have a recommended retail price of $30. This figure actually leaked on Reddit a month earlier than intended, but was swiftly taken down for copyright purposes. We can’t link to the footage here, but the fire-breathing effects were very cool, especially in a dark room.

Whilst Bowser is the figure with the most impressive feature, the other Super Mario Bros. Movie toys are also great to look at. There are individual figures for all the main cast, as well as a Mushroom Kingdom castle playset, which includes Mario, Peach and Peach’s obstacle-filled castle for Mario to storm through. The official toy reveal also shows off some Mario Kart-inspired pull-back racers, with Peach, Mario, Toad and a Koopa Troopa all getting their own pull-back toys. Much like the Bowser figure, all these toys will be on sale later this month on Feb. 26.
